Milan Secure Crucial Victory with Reijnders’ Goal
AC Milan overcame injury setbacks to claim a hard-fought 1-0 win against Hellas Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi. Tijjani Reijnders scored the decisive goal, helping the Rossoneri bounce back from recent struggles.
The match proved challenging for Milan, who were missing several key players due to injuries. The situation worsened when Rafael Leao had to be substituted after just 32 minutes with a flexor issue. Despite fielding players out of position, including Filippo Terracciano in midfield, Milan managed to secure the victory.
Reijnders netted the winner with a clinical finish from the edge of the box, capitalizing on an inspired assist from Youssouf Fofana. The Dutch midfielder expressed his gratitude to Fofana, praising his teammate’s vision and passing ability.
“This win was crucial after our recent difficulties. It wasn’t easy, but we got the three points and can now enjoy the holidays,” Reijnders told reporters after the match.
The goal marked Reijnders’ fourth in Serie A this season, equaling his personal best in a top European league. Remarkably, he scored without looking at the goal, showcasing his instinctive finishing skills.
Team Morale Remains Positive Despite Challenges
While tension persists among Milan’s fan base, with ultras voicing their discontent towards club ownership during the match, players insist the mood within the squad remains optimistic.
Defender Matteo Gabbia emphasized the team’s positive spirit: “There’s definitely a good atmosphere in the locker room, as the coach mentioned. We’re not satisfied with recent results, but winning at a difficult venue is significant. We’re committed to improving our league position and everyone is working hard in training.”
Gabbia revealed he had made a pre-match request to goalscorer Reijnders: “I told him, ‘Tiji, we need this win. Make sure you get us the victory!’ And he delivered on his promise.”
The result provides a much-needed boost for Milan as they head into the winter break, looking to build momentum for the second half of the season.
