Milan Faces Striker Shortage as Morata Sidelined for Verona Match
AC Milan is facing a striker crisis ahead of their Serie A clash with Hellas Verona on Friday. Coach Paulo Fonseca announced that Alvaro Morata will be unavailable due to tonsillitis, leaving the team with limited options up front.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Fonseca outlined the team’s injury woes: “We’re struggling with player availability at the moment. Pulisic returned from international duty with an issue. Now Musah, Okafor, and Loftus-Cheek are injured. Morata has tonsillitis.”
With Luka Jovic also sidelined, Milan’s only available center forwards are young Francesco Camarda and Tammy Abraham. Fonseca hinted that one of them would start against Verona: “I considered starting with two strikers earlier this week, but given Morata’s situation, I don’t think we can do that now.”
The coach also mentioned the possibility of fielding some of Milan’s youth players: “Torriani, Bartesaghi, Jimenez, Liberali, Zeroli, and Camarda have already played with the first team. Camarda might play, and other young players could feature as well. Some youth team members will be with us, and some will get playing time.”
This injury crisis comes at a crucial time for Milan as they look to maintain their position in the Serie A table. The match against Hellas Verona will be a test of the team’s depth and adaptability in the face of these challenges.
