Milan CEO Discusses Club’s Sale to RedBird Capital

Harvard Business School recently published a 24-page case study on AC Milan, featuring insights from CEO Giorgio Furlani, an alumnus of the prestigious institution. In the study, Furlani shared some behind-the-scenes information about the club’s recent ownership change.

Regarding RedBird Capital’s acquisition and Gerry Cardinale’s involvement, Furlani stated: “We had several interested parties approaching us, as it was no secret that Elliott was looking to sell their stake at the right price. Ultimately, Gerry proved to be the most interested and willing buyer.”

This revelation sheds light on the competitive process that led to RedBird’s successful acquisition of the storied Italian football club. It also highlights the careful consideration that went into selecting the right investor to take AC Milan forward in its next chapter.
