Marseille’s Faris Moumbagna Nearing Return from Injury
Cameroon international Faris Moumbagna (24) is making progress in his recovery from an ACL injury sustained at the beginning of the season. According to reports, the Olympique de Marseille striker is expected to rejoin the squad by early spring.
Moumbagna’s return will see him face a significantly altered team compared to the one that started the season. Initially brought in as a backup for summer signing Elye Wahi, Moumbagna’s injury prompted Marseille to acquire Neal Maupay from Everton.
The team’s dynamics have shifted during Moumbagna’s absence. Wahi’s underwhelming performances have led to speculation about an early departure, with Maupay now the preferred choice. Additionally, young talent Robinio Vaz has impressed in his debut, potentially complicating Moumbagna’s path back into the lineup.
As Moumbagna prepares for his comeback, it remains to be seen how he will fit into Roberto De Zerbi’s squad, which has evolved over the past half-season without him.
