Marotta: Inter Cooperating Fully with Ultra Investigation
In a recent interview for a documentary about Inter Milan’s 2024 season, club CEO Giuseppe Marotta addressed the ongoing “Double Curve” investigation into ultra groups associated with Inter and AC Milan. The probe, led by Milan prosecutors, has resulted in 17 arrests so far on charges including criminal association.
Marotta expressed gratitude to law enforcement and judicial authorities for their efforts to combat criminal activities in football. He stated, “We are fully cooperating to help eradicate this extremely negative phenomenon. These are criminal activities that have no place in sports.”
The executive reflected on how football-related violence has evolved over the decades, noting that while physical altercations used to occur in and around stadiums, today’s issues are more complex for clubs to address alone. Marotta emphasized Inter’s commitment to transparency throughout the investigation process.
Addressing the broader cultural issues, Marotta called for education starting from primary school to teach that football is ultimately a game. He highlighted the need to develop a “culture of accepting defeat” in Italy, saying, “Today there’s a lack of ability to lose gracefully. We need to understand there are no judges delivering verdicts at the end of matches.”
