Manuel Neuer Sidelined Until 2024 Due to Rib Fracture
Bayern Munich’s head coach Vincent Kompany has announced that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will be absent from upcoming matches due to injury. The team anticipates his return to the field in January.
The 38-year-old player suffered a rib fracture during the German Cup Round of 16 match against Bayer Leverkusen (0:1) on December 3rd.
“He broke a rib. It’s likely he won’t play again this year. The main thing is for him to recover. I hope Manu will be back in January,” Kompany stated, as quoted by the Munich club’s press service.
In the match against Bayer, Neuer fouled Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong outside the penalty area and was sent off in the 17th minute. This marked the first red card of his career.
