Manchester United Set to Intensify Efforts to Sign Atalanta Midfielder
Manchester United are reportedly ready to step up their interest in signing Atalanta’s Brazilian midfielder Ederson. After internal scouting evaluations, the Premier League club have identified the 25-year-old as an ideal addition to strengthen their midfield.
Ederson has attracted attention from several top European clubs in recent months with his impressive performances for Atalanta. Liverpool were also said to be monitoring the player, who has established himself as one of the most complete midfielders in Europe.
According to reports, Manchester United view Ederson as a potential long-term replacement for Casemiro in midfield. The club’s scouts and directors have singled him out as a top target after extensive analysis.
United are expected to make contact with Atalanta soon to initiate talks over a possible summer transfer. However, the Italian club are unlikely to consider selling Ederson in January as they push for silverware this season.
Atalanta are on an 11-match winning run in Serie A and have practically secured qualification for at least the Champions League knockout stage playoff. They will be reluctant to lose a key player mid-season.
Any deal for Ederson is likely to cost United at least €60 million, similar to the fee Juventus paid Atalanta for Teun Koopmeiners last summer. The Brazilian’s price tag reflects his importance to Atalanta and rising stock in European football.
With Ederson emerging as a prime target, Manchester United appear set to make a concerted effort to bring the talented midfielder to Old Trafford in 2024. His signing could provide a significant boost to their midfield options for the coming years.
