Manchester United Makes Inquiry About Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell
Manchester United is looking to strengthen their left wing-back position and has made an inquiry about Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell. The 25-year-old has been a key player for Palace this season, starting every Premier League and Carabao Cup match.
United manager Ruben Amorim has been using right-footed Diogo Dalot as a left wing-back, but is seeking a more natural option for the position. Mitchell could provide that, having played as a wing-back for Palace this season and contributing 3 assists.
The Red Devils see Mitchell as a potential alternative to Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu, who they have also been pursuing. Mitchell impressed against United earlier this season, shutting down winger Amad Diallo in a 0-0 draw.
Statistically, Mitchell has shown better defensive ability than Dorgu over the past two seasons, averaging more tackles, interceptions and ball recoveries per 90 minutes. He is also comparable in progressive passing and carries.
With Mitchell’s contract expiring in the summer, United may look to make a move this January transfer window rather than wait. The England international could provide an instant Premier League-ready solution for Amorim’s wing-back needs.
While Arsenal and European clubs have also shown interest, United appear to be making a strong push to bring the Palace defender to Old Trafford. Mitchell’s combination of defensive solidity and attacking contributions make him an attractive option as United look to upgrade at left wing-back.
