Manchester United Contacts £40M+ Striker Who Netted Hat-Trick in European Final
According to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Manchester United has initiated discussions with Ademola Lookman’s representatives regarding a potential transfer. The 27-year-old forward currently plays for Italian club Atalanta, having joined them from RB Leipzig in August 2022.
Lookman has made an immediate impact in Bergamo since his arrival, scoring 13 goals in 31 Serie A matches in his debut season, followed by 11 in 31 games, and already netting 8 times in 13 appearances this season. He played a crucial role in Atalanta’s Europa League victory last season, memorably scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.
The striker’s impressive form has caught the attention of the Red Devils. Tavolieri reports that Lookman is keen to return to England after his successful stint in Italy. Atalanta has informed the player they are open to negotiating a transfer, provided they receive a satisfactory offer.
Manchester United is among several clubs, including Liverpool and Chelsea, that have contacted Lookman’s representatives. Bayern Munich has also expressed interest, though they currently trail behind the English teams in pursuit. PSG previously reached an agreement with Atalanta for Lookman, but manager Luis Enrique vetoed the deal.
Atalanta is reportedly unwilling to entertain offers below €50 million (approximately £41 million) for the in-form striker. Lookman’s potential arrival at Old Trafford could coincide with the possible departures of Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford, as United looks to reshape its squad under new ownership.
