Manchester United Approaches £6.1 Million-Per-Year Defender

Manchester United has reportedly made initial contact with Inter Milan regarding their left-back Federico Dimarco. The 27-year-old Italian defender, who earns £6.1 million annually, has emerged as a potential target for the Premier League club as they look to strengthen their defensive options.

Dimarco, known for his versatility and exceptional set-piece delivery, has been a key player in Inter Milan’s recent successes in Serie A and cup competitions. His ability to play as both a left-back and center-back makes him an attractive prospect for United manager Erik ten Hag.

However, despite United’s interest, Dimarco has reportedly turned down the possibility of a move to England. As a lifelong Inter Milan fan who came through the club’s academy, the defender is said to prefer remaining at the San Siro and is keen on signing a new contract with the Serie A champions.

Dimarco’s current contract with Inter Milan runs until 2027, and his strong emotional ties to the club present a significant obstacle for Manchester United’s recruitment efforts. The Italian international has made 156 appearances for Inter, scoring 17 goals and providing 28 assists across all competitions.

While United continues its search for defensive reinforcements, they may need to look elsewhere given Dimarco’s apparent commitment to Inter Milan. The club is also considering other left-back options, including PSG’s Nuno Mendes, as they prepare for potential transfers in the upcoming window.
