Manchester City Eyes AC Milan Star Tijjani Reijnders with £40M+ Bid
Manchester City is reportedly preparing a substantial bid exceeding £40 million for AC Milan’s standout midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. Manager Pep Guardiola is keen to strengthen his squad as the team looks to reverse their recent poor form.
City’s performance has declined sharply in recent weeks, with the team losing eight of their last eleven matches across all competitions. This slump has left them nine points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool and struggling in the Champions League.
Guardiola himself has admitted to being at a loss for solutions, stating after a recent defeat to Manchester United: “I am not good enough. I am the manager. I have to find solutions and so far I haven’t. That’s the reality.”
In an effort to address these issues, City has set its sights on Reijnders, who is having an exceptional season with AC Milan. The Dutch midfielder has scored three goals and provided two assists in 14 Serie A appearances this season, earning high praise from football analysts.
Guardiola reportedly believes Reijnders would bring “freshness, balance, and versatility” to City’s midfield. The club is said to be preparing an offer of around €50 million (£41.3m) to tempt the player away from Milan.
However, City may face challenges in securing Reijnders’ signature. The midfielder recently indicated he was close to signing a new contract with AC Milan, though it has not yet been finalized. It remains to be seen whether City’s substantial offer could sway Reijnders’ decision or if Guardiola will need to pursue alternative targets to reinforce his struggling squad.
