Manchester City Among Premier League Clubs Pursuing Lens Defender Khusanov
Abdukodir Khusanov, the 20-year-old Uzbekistan international, has become a crucial player for RC Lens, despite the unexpected retention of Kevin Danso this summer. Goalkeeper Brice Samba has praised Khusanov as a “monster” on the field.
Lens, having failed to offload players like Danso and Neil El-Aynaoui during the summer transfer window, is now considering selling some assets in January. Khusanov is among those the club is willing to transfer.
Interest in the young center-back is growing, particularly from the Premier League. Manchester City and Leicester City have joined Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in pursuit of Khusanov. German club RB Leipzig is also monitoring the situation. Additionally, Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director Luís Campos has reportedly met with the player’s representatives, while Atletico Madrid has also expressed interest.
In light of this widespread attention, Lens has engaged super-agent Jorge Mendes to facilitate a transfer for the promising defender. The French club is reportedly seeking a fee between €25-30 million for Khusanov.
As the January transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen which club will secure the services of this highly sought-after young talent.
