Lyon Determined to Keep Cherki Unless Substantial Offer Arrives, Despite Liverpool Interest

Olympique Lyonnais is committed to retaining their young talent Rayan Cherki (21) during the upcoming January transfer window, despite growing interest from other clubs. However, the French side may reconsider their stance if a substantial offer is presented. Cherki, whose contract with Lyon runs until 2026, has become a sought-after player as the transfer window approaches.

This season has seen Cherki reach new heights in his career. After two years of inconsistent performances in Lyon’s first team, the young playmaker seems to have found his stride at his childhood club. The academy graduate has made an impressive impact, featuring in 17 matches, scoring 5 goals, and providing 7 assists.

While Lyon is keen on keeping their attacking midfield prodigy, the club’s financial situation may force them to consider lucrative offers. Facing potential relegation to Ligue 2, Lyon urgently needs to raise funds. Reports suggest that both Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have expressed interest in signing the France U21 international. Lyon has reportedly set a valuation of €30 million for their academy star.

Despite their preference to keep Cherki, Lyon may find themselves in a position where they have to seriously consider any substantial offers that come their way, given their current financial predicament and the risk of relegation.
