Lyon Announces Details of Orban’s Transfer to Hoffenheim

Lyon has officially announced the details of striker Gift Orban’s move to Hoffenheim on their website. The 22-year-old Nigerian has signed a contract with the German club until 2029.

According to Lyon’s statement, the transfer fee amounts to €9 million, with additional performance-based bonuses of up to €3 million (including a guaranteed €1 million). Lyon will also receive 7.5% of any future transfer fee if Orban is sold by Hoffenheim.

Orban has made five appearances across all competitions this season, scoring two goals. Lyon had previously acquired the African striker from Gent in January 2024 for €14 million.

This transfer marks the end of Orban’s brief stint with Lyon and represents a new chapter in his career as he joins Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.
