Liverpool in the Running to Acquire “Exceptional” Defender
According to journalist Christian Falk, Liverpool are among the clubs vying to sign a highly-rated defender, with discussions potentially taking place during the January transfer window.
Liverpool Seeking Left-Back Reinforcement
The Reds are exploring options to eventually replace long-serving left-back Andy Robertson, who has struggled to maintain his usual high standards this season. The club has identified several potential targets, including Premier League players Antonee Robinson and Milos Kerkez, both of whom have impressed in the first half of the season.
While Robertson remains an important player, there is a desire to bring in a younger alternative for the future. At just 21 years old, Kerkez fits this profile particularly well.
Manager Arne Slot is also considering options from outside the Premier League, with Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, who will be out of contract in the summer, among those under consideration.
Davies Continues to Impress at Bayern
The 24-year-old Canadian showcased his attacking prowess recently, contributing a goal and an assist in Bayern’s emphatic 5-1 victory over RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
Known for his offensive capabilities, Davies has also demonstrated improved defensive skills this season, potentially making him an ideal long-term successor to Robertson.
While competition for Davies’ signature is expected to be fierce given interest from several top clubs, his potential availability on a free transfer at the end of the season makes him an especially attractive prospect.
According to Falk, Davies is open to a potential move away from Bayern Munich, with talks between the player and club currently on hold until January. The player’s agent is expected to meet with interested top clubs in the new year, and Liverpool could potentially secure a meeting during this time.
Falk stated, “Liverpool are still in contention if they want him, although Manchester United and Real Madrid appear to be more concrete options at this stage. Bayern are also pushing to extend his contract and remain hopeful of reaching an agreement.”
