Liverpool eyeing January move for “complete” striker Randal Kolo Muani
Liverpool manager Arne Slot may be losing patience with striker Darwin Nunez and could look to upgrade the position in January. Reports suggest Liverpool are gathering information on Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani, who has struggled for playing time this season.
Nunez has shown flashes of brilliance but continues to frustrate with inconsistent finishing. In Liverpool’s recent win over Leicester City, Nunez failed to make a significant impact before being substituted after 78 minutes. His inability to convert chances has been an ongoing issue since joining Liverpool for a club-record fee in 2022.
Kolo Muani could provide the clinical edge Liverpool’s attack needs. The French international excelled at Eintracht Frankfurt last season with 23 goals and 17 assists across all competitions. While he has struggled to replicate that form at PSG, his skill set could thrive in Liverpool’s fluid attacking system.
Described as a “very complete” forward by Kylian Mbappe, Kolo Muani offers pace, dribbling ability and goal-scoring instincts. His versatility to play across the front line would fit well with Liverpool’s interchangeable attack. Most importantly, he has shown better composure in front of goal than Nunez in recent seasons.
A January loan move with an option to buy could be an ideal low-risk solution for Liverpool. It would allow Slot to assess if Kolo Muani can rediscover his Frankfurt form and provide the finishing touch Liverpool’s attack has lacked at times this season. With Mohamed Salah potentially departing for the Africa Cup of Nations, adding another attacking option could prove crucial for Liverpool’s title ambitions.
