Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo Sidelined with Ankle Injury
Lille OSC has announced that their 19-year-old winger, Matias Fernandez-Pardo, sustained a torn ligament in his left ankle during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with FC Nantes. The young Belgian was forced to leave the pitch just ten minutes into the game, being replaced by Osame Sahraoui. The French club has not provided any information regarding the expected duration of Fernandez-Pardo’s recovery.
Fernandez-Pardo rejoined Lille this summer, having previously been part of the club’s youth academy from 2014. In 2020, he moved back to his home country to continue his development with Gent, where he made his professional debut in the Belgian Pro League.
This season has seen Fernandez-Pardo make significant progress in his career. Head coach Bruno Génésio has shown confidence in the young talent, including him in all of Lille’s Champions League matches, except for the 1-0 victory against Real Madrid. The winger also celebrated his first goal for Lille during a 2-2 draw with OGC Nice in November.
