Lens Striker Labeau Lascary Out Long-Term with Knee Injury

RC Lens has been hit with another significant injury blow, as young forward Rémy Labeau Lascary is set for an extended absence. The 21-year-old Guadeloupean striker sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Auxerre.

Initially thought to be a minor knock, further tests on Monday revealed the severity of the injury. Labeau Lascary will now miss several months as he recovers, dealing a major setback to Lens’ attacking options. The injury comes at an unfortunate time, as the striker had recently found good form with goal contributions in consecutive league matches.

This continues a string of injury woes for Lens, with Martin Satriano, Wesley Saïd and others also sidelined recently. Manager Will Still will need to reshuffle his lineup to cope with the absences as Lens prepares for upcoming fixtures.

The team faces a tough test in their Coupe de France opener against reigning champions PSG on December 22. Lens will look to overcome their depleted squad and advance in the cup competition after early exits the past two seasons.
