Lazio Eyeing Midfield Additions from Chelsea or Napoli in January
Lazio are seeking to strengthen their midfield in the January transfer window following an injury to Matias Vecino. With squad restrictions in place, the club is focusing on two specific targets – Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei and Napoli’s Michael Folorunsho.
Recent reports indicate Vecino could be sidelined for up to two months. With limited midfield options currently available, Lazio are left with just three senior midfielders – Matteo Guendouzi, Nicolo Rovella and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Due to Serie A squad list constraints, Lazio can only sign an Italian player aged 22 or under, or promote a youth academy product. This makes 21-year-old Casadei an attractive option, as the Italy U21 international struggles for playing time at Chelsea.
Alternatively, 26-year-old Folorunsho from Napoli is also under consideration. As a Lazio academy graduate, he would not require an additional squad slot. The club had previously shown interest in Folorunsho during the summer transfer window.
By targeting these specific players, Lazio aim to address their midfield depth issues while complying with league regulations. The January window will be crucial as the club looks to reinforce this key area of the squad.
