Lautaro Martinez Shares Insights on Inzaghi’s Approach and Conte Comparison
Inter Milan’s captain, Lautaro Martinez, recently opened up about his current goal-scoring challenges and provided a comparison between his experiences under Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi.
Addressing his goal drought, Martinez explained, “As a striker, I live for scoring. However, it’s important to analyze overall performance. Recently, I’ve been playing further from the goal to help the team advance. This is a new aspect I’m adding to my game, and I feel comfortable with it. Thuram now occupies a more central, advanced position, which is a natural result of our on-field understanding.”
Martinez also touched on his challenging summer, saying, “After the Copa America victory, I returned early from vacation due to Taremi’s injury and faced some difficulties. Sometimes I feel like a robot, other times not. Rest isn’t my preference, but occasionally my legs or mind don’t cooperate. The key is to always give 100%, even when things aren’t going as planned.”
Regarding Inzaghi, Martinez believes he is underappreciated: “Inzaghi’s secret is that he still thinks like a player, which helps him understand us deeply. For me, it’s doubly beneficial as he was a forward, allowing me to play with a clear mind and a smile. With Conte, I learned immensely and I’m grateful. With Inzaghi, I feel I’ve grown to an extremely high level.”
