Lautaro Martinez Opens Up About Career and Personal Journey at Inter Milan
In a revealing interview, Inter Milan striker and captain Lautaro Martinez reflected on his difficult upbringing in Argentina and his current situation at the Italian club. He shared insights into his development as a player and person.
Martinez spoke about growing up in poverty, saying his family often struggled to afford rent. These experiences strengthened his bond with relatives and shaped his character. He developed a meticulous nature, tidying the house as a child to cope with challenging circumstances.
The forward almost gave up on football after being rejected by Boca Juniors as a teenager. However, Racing Club gave him another chance, launching his professional career. Martinez credits working with psychologists for helping him manage his emotions and improve communication with coaches.
Regarding his current goal drought at Inter, Martinez explained he is playing further from the goal to help the team, while new signing Marcus Thuram takes a more advanced position. He admitted feeling fatigued after a busy summer but is confident goals will come.
Martinez praised coach Simone Inzaghi for understanding players well and allowing freedom of expression on the pitch. He feels both he and Inzaghi are undervalued despite their achievements. The striker aims to maintain a winning mentality and build on his World Cup success with Argentina.
Though proud of his individual accolades, including a 7th place finish in Ballon d’Or voting, Martinez emphasized the importance of team trophies. He expressed his hunger to keep improving and winning titles with Inter Milan.
