Barcelona’s promising young forward Lamine Yamal has been ruled out for approximately one month following an ankle injury. The 16-year-old talent sustained the injury during a La Liga match against Leganes, forcing him to take an extended break from the pitch.
Barcelona officially announced Yamal’s injury status through a club statement: “First team player Lamine Yamal suffered a right ankle trauma during the match against CD Leganes. Tests conducted on December 16th revealed a grade 1 injury to the anterior tibiofibular ligament. The estimated recovery time is between 3 and 4 weeks.”
Despite receiving a strong knock early in the game against Leganes, Yamal chose to continue playing. This decision may have exacerbated his condition. As a result of this injury, the young star will miss Barcelona’s upcoming league fixture against Atletico Madrid. While the winter break provides some relief for his recovery, Yamal’s participation in the Spanish Super Cup, scheduled for January 8-12, 2024, remains uncertain.
This setback interrupts what has been a breakthrough season for Yamal, who has impressed fans and critics alike with his performances for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team. The club and supporters alike will be eagerly awaiting his return to full fitness in the new year.
