Lamine Camara Retains CAF Young Player of the Year Title

AS Monaco’s talented midfielder Lamine Camara, aged 20, has once again been honored with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Young Player of the Year award. This marks his second consecutive win, following his initial triumph in 2023.

Camara’s remarkable year began with his significant contributions to FC Metz’s campaign to maintain their Ligue 1 status. Despite the team’s ultimate relegation, Camara’s exceptional performances caught the attention of AS Monaco, who invested €15 million to secure his services.

Since joining Monaco, Camara has seamlessly integrated into the team, forming a strong partnership with team captain Denis Zakaria in midfield. His impact has been immediate, with 18 appearances for the club so far, including six in the UEFA Champions League. During this time, he has scored two goals and provided two assists.

Camara’s outstanding performances for both Metz and Monaco have solidified his position as Africa’s most promising young talent. He clinched the award ahead of other notable contenders such as Oumar Diakité and Karim Konaté, further cementing his status as a rising star in African and European football.
