La Liga Supports Court’s Decision on Olmo’s Registration
La Liga has expressed its approval of the court’s decision to prohibit the registration of midfielder Dani Olmo by Barcelona for the remainder of the season.
In an official statement, La Liga welcomed the fact that the court did not overturn the league’s budgetary regulations in response to requests for temporary measures. The organization emphasized that such an action could have seriously undermined the equality of competition conditions.
La Liga officials highlighted the Spanish Sports Law, which states that financial fair play “has proven to be truly beneficial in ensuring the viability and integrity of competitions.”
It was previously reported that Barcelona had filed a lawsuit in the court of first instance. A new hearing regarding the ban on Olmo’s registration is scheduled for December 30.
Olmo joined Barcelona this summer, but the Catalan club was only able to register him in La Liga until the end of 2024. In the first half of the season, the Spanish midfielder scored 6 goals and provided 1 assist in 15 matches for Barcelona across all competitions.
