La Liga Issues Statement Following Barcelona Player Registration Approval
La Liga has released a statement in response to the Higher Sports Council (CSD) allowing Barcelona to temporarily register midfielder Dani Olmo and forward Pau Victor for the second half of the season.
“The decision was made without forwarding the appeal or reviewing the accusation to La Liga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). Therefore, at this time, the arguments presented by Barcelona and its players are unknown to us.
The content of the CSD resolution will be thoroughly examined to pursue appropriate legal remedies, without prejudice to expressing our complete disagreement with it.
The ruling mentions several motives related to athletes’ rights to a sporting career, which we will study when the case is forwarded to us,” the statement said.
Previously, it was reported that La Liga and RFEF had denied Barcelona’s request to register these players for the second half of the season.
Olmo joined Barcelona in August last year and was only registered for the first half of the 2024/25 season. The player’s contract includes a clause allowing him to leave the club for free if not registered in January.
In the 2024/25 season, 26-year-old Olmo scored 6 goals and provided 1 assist in 15 matches across all competitions. 23-year-old Victor has 2 goals and 1 assist in 17 matches.
