Juventus Weighs Options for Vlahovic’s Future
Juventus is set to engage in contract discussions with Dusan Vlahovic following the January transfer window. However, if a new agreement is not reached, the Serbian striker may find himself in a predicament akin to Federico Chiesa and Weston McKennie’s situations last summer.
The Italian giants are keen to extend Vlahovic’s contract, which currently expires in June 2026. Their primary objective is to spread his annual €12 million salary over a longer period. Reports suggest that Juventus is prepared to offer Vlahovic an €8 million per year deal, though this falls short of the player’s expectations.
Given the potential impasse, Juventus is considering three possible scenarios:
- Vlahovic agrees to a new contract with reduced wages
- The striker secures an offer from another interested club
- Vlahovic remains for the final year of his current contract
Should the third option materialize, Juventus might opt to exclude Vlahovic from the squad, either awaiting a summer transfer offer or attempting to persuade him to sign a new deal. This strategy mirrors the club’s approach with Chiesa and McKennie last summer, when both players trained separately from the main squad for several weeks.
Chiesa ultimately departed for Liverpool in August, while McKennie eventually signed a contract extension until 2026 and rejoined first-team training. As negotiations with Vlahovic progress, all eyes will be on whether history repeats itself or if a new agreement can be reached to secure the Serbian star’s future at Juventus.
