Juventus sporting director discusses Vlahovic contract and transfer plans
Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli addressed the media before the Coppa Italia match against Cagliari, providing updates on key player contracts and potential transfer activity.
Regarding Dusan Vlahovic’s contract situation, Giuntoli stated, “Our relationship with Vlahovic and his agent is excellent. He still has a year left on his contract, and we’ll discuss further after the transfer window closes. There’s still time to sort things out and move forward in the best possible way.”
When asked about his recent meeting with super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents players like Francisco Conceicao and Antonio Silva from Benfica, Giuntoli downplayed any immediate transfer plans: “I simply greeted him. We didn’t discuss any transfer business. We’ll reveal our January plans closer to the time, likely in early January. As for defensive targets, we’re focusing on one at a time.”
Reflecting on the team’s performance, Giuntoli said, “We started from scratch with a new coach and a different approach. Injuries slowed our initially impressive growth. The team was conceding very little and playing attractive football. The congested fixture list and lack of proper rotation caused difficulties. We need to stay united and wait for the transfer window, plus Milik’s return. We’re staying positive and will draw conclusions at the end of the season.”
Giuntoli also addressed the club’s unity, stating, “We’ve played many games with limited substitutions due to injuries, which has been a significant setback. As fans ourselves, we’re the first to be disappointed when we don’t win, but we move forward together, united towards a future that will bring satisfaction.”
