Jérémie Boga’s Influence at Nice Diminishes After Remarkable First Year
Jérémie Boga made a significant impact during his inaugural season at Nice, contributing to 12 goals in a team that struggled to find the net. His performance was crucial in securing the club’s qualification for the Europa League. Despite the pressure of his hefty €17m price tag, Boga largely lived up to expectations.
Known for his one-on-one skills, Boga managed to rank sixth in Ligue 1 for successful dribbles and progressive carries, even while adapting to Francesco Farioli’s tactical approach. These achievements were particularly noteworthy given the constraints of the team’s playing style.
However, Boga’s second season has presented new challenges. With Terem Moffi’s injury, there was an increased need for goal contributions from attacking players. Unfortunately, Boga has struggled with his own fitness issues and has yet to score in Ligue 1 this season, though he has netted twice in Europa League matches.
Various factors may have contributed to Boga’s slow start, including a minor injury at the beginning of the season and transfer speculation linking him to AS Roma. While he remains a key player for manager Franck Haise, Boga has fallen behind teammates Evann Guessand and Mohamed-Ali Cho in terms of performance.
Boga’s situation has been further complicated by a recent muscular injury, which is expected to sideline him for approximately three months. This setback poses additional challenges for the Ivorian winger as he seeks to regain his form and influence within the Nice squad.
