Inzaghi: “Many Expected Us to Stumble, But These Players Are Like Me – They Keep Pedaling”
Inter Milan delivered a stunning 6-0 victory against Lazio at the Olimpico in the 16th round of Serie A, maintaining their pace with league leaders. After the match, Inter’s coach Simone Inzaghi shared his thoughts with the media:
“I’m particularly pleased that we defeated a team that was in excellent form. We maintained our composure during the first 20 minutes and kept good distances. After scoring the first two goals and the third just after halftime, everything became easier. These players have been giving me this level of performance for three and a half years, and I’m proud to be their coach.”
Regarding the message sent to the league, Inzaghi commented, “Whether we’re the strongest team will be determined on the field. We wanted to play a great game, and we prepared well in four days. We were aware of Lazio’s qualities, and the players did an excellent job interpreting the match.”
On the team’s defensive solidity, he stated, “These players deserve praise because we’ve been playing constantly for a month. We’ve had rotation difficulties in defense without Acerbi and Pavard. Bisseck had a very good first half, then I had to make calculations with two booked players.”
Inzaghi concluded by expressing his pride in the team’s commitment: “What makes me most proud is what the players put on the field in these three and a half years. They show incredible dedication. After the derby loss to Milan, many people couldn’t wait for us to stumble, but fortunately, these players, like their coach, don’t listen much and keep pedaling.”
