Inzaghi: Lazio a Serious Contender for Serie A Title
Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has stated that his former club Lazio must be considered a legitimate contender for the Serie A championship this season. Ahead of Inter’s crucial match against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, Inzaghi praised the Roman club’s excellent form and results so far this campaign.
“Lazio have been impressive, winning 16 out of 22 matches across all competitions,” Inzaghi remarked. “Even in the games they didn’t win, they performed very well. Credit must be given to the club, the coach, and the players.”
The Inter boss highlighted Lazio’s strong performances in Serie A, Coppa Italia, and Europa League under manager Marco Baroni. “Baroni is doing an outstanding job. The team is well-organized and playing attractive football,” Inzaghi added.
While acknowledging the challenges of balancing domestic and European commitments, Inzaghi emphasized that top clubs must find ways to cope with busy schedules. He sees Sunday’s clash as a potential title race showdown, given both teams’ need for points to keep pace with league leaders.
“At the start of the season, I predicted a very competitive campaign,” Inzaghi noted. “In my opinion, it’s only fair to include Lazio among the Scudetto contenders. Their playing style and organization make them genuine challengers for the title.”
Inzaghi, who spent much of his career at Lazio as both player and coach, admitted facing his former club is always special. “This will be my eighth time facing Lazio, the fourth at the Olimpico. I’m grateful for my time there and proud of what we achieved together,” he concluded.
