Inzaghi: Inter Showed Their Class, Lautaro Needs to Stay Relaxed
Following Inter’s 2-0 triumph over Como, manager Simone Inzaghi lauded his team’s ability to elevate their game when necessary. He also had words of encouragement for striker Lautaro Martinez, who has been struggling to find the back of the net recently.
Despite a less than stellar first half performance at San Siro, Inter managed to secure all three points against a determined Como side. Goals from Carlos Augusto and Marcus Thuram sealed the victory for the Nerazzurri.
Inzaghi acknowledged Como’s strong showing, stating, “Como deserves credit for their positive approach. However, Inter remained focused throughout and limited their opportunities. We weren’t at our sharpest in the first half, partly due to the pitch condition. But we knew that once we increased our intensity, we could take control of the match.”
The Inter coach also praised Thuram’s continued improvement, highlighting the striker’s hard work and seamless integration into the team’s tactics. Regarding squad rotation, Inzaghi emphasized the importance of managing player workload given the busy fixture schedule.
Addressing Lautaro Martinez’s recent goal drought, Inzaghi offered reassurance: “As a former striker myself, I understand these phases. I’ve advised Lautaro to stay calm. He’s always been a prolific goalscorer and will continue to be. He should only worry if he stops getting scoring chances.”
The victory places Inter in third position heading into the holiday break, just three points behind league leaders Atalanta with a game in hand.
