Inzaghi: Inter Must Focus on Cagliari Match, Not Get Distracted by Supercoppa
Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has emphasized the importance of his team’s full concentration on their upcoming Serie A match against Cagliari, cautioning against any distractions from the looming Supercoppa Italiana tournament.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s fixture at the Unipol Domus Arena, Inzaghi stressed the need for Inter to bring their best form: “We need to see the real Inter today. We know the Supercoppa is significant, but right now our only focus must be Cagliari.”
The Nerazzurri currently sit three points behind league leaders Atalanta, though Inter have a game in hand. That postponed match against Fiorentina is not expected to be played until at least February due to fixture congestion.
Inzaghi highlighted the challenge posed by Cagliari, despite their recent struggles: “They’ve lost their last three matches, but put in good performances showing tactical organization. We have to start stronger than in recent games and keep improving.”
The Inter boss also noted the return of defender Stefan de Vrij to the starting lineup, though the backline remains weakened by other absences. He emphasized the importance of a strong start, acknowledging the intimidating atmosphere created by Cagliari’s home supporters.
With the Supercoppa Italiana looming, featuring a January 2nd semifinal against Atalanta and potential final clash with either Juventus or AC Milan, Inzaghi is working to keep his squad focused solely on the immediate task at hand in Sardinia.
