Inter’s Strategy to Gain Advantage in Pursuit of Como’s Nico Paz
Inter Milan is carefully crafting a strategy to gain an edge in their pursuit of Como’s talented young midfielder Nico Paz. The Nerazzurri view Monday’s home match against Como as an ideal opportunity to further scout the 20-year-old Argentine, who has impressed since joining Cesc Fabregas’ side last summer.
Inter’s interest in Paz is well-documented, with vice-president Javier Zanetti personally watching the player recently. However, the club is aware that Real Madrid retains a €12 million buy-back clause for their former youth prospect. Inter wants to be prepared in case Madrid opts not to exercise this option.
According to reports, Paz fits the profile of young, talented players that Inter’s new owners Oaktree are looking to invest in. To gain an advantage in signing Paz, Inter is considering including Francesco Pio Esposito in a potential deal. The 19-year-old striker is currently on loan at Serie B side Spezia, where he has scored 9 goals in 16 matches.
Inter believes Paz’s connection with captain Lautaro Martinez, his Argentina national team colleague, could help convince the midfielder to join Simone Inzaghi’s squad. Paz has already made an impact in Serie A this season, scoring 2 goals and providing 4 assists in 15 appearances for Como.
As Inter carefully plots its approach, Monday’s match provides another chance to evaluate Paz up close as they aim to eventually bring the promising talent to the San Siro.
