Inter’s Defensive Adjustments and Attacking Plans for Cagliari Clash
Inter Milan had their final training session in pleasant weather conditions at Appiano Gentile before departing for Cagliari. Coach Simone Inzaghi tested his likely starting eleven for the upcoming match.
The good news for Inter is Stefan de Vrij’s full recovery. The Dutch defender is expected to start in central defense, solving a potential problem for Inzaghi. However, Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard remain unavailable, with both players missing training. The team hopes to have them back for the Supercoppa.
Matteo Darmian also trained separately from the group, suggesting he may not travel to Cagliari. This continues to leave Inter short-handed in defense.
In attack, Joaquin Correa is not yet at 100% fitness. He trained cautiously but will still travel with the squad. As a result, the starting forward pair is likely to be Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez. Martinez will be looking to end his goal drought, having not scored since November 3rd against Venezia.
In defense, Alessandro Bastoni appears to have won the starting spot over Carlos Augusto. The midfield is expected to feature Inter’s regular starters.
Probable lineup: Sommer; Bisseck, de Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro.
