Inter Milan Adds 2006 Scudetto Trophy to Collection After 18-Year Wait
The ninth floor of Inter Milan’s headquarters now boasts a new addition to its trophy cabinet. The 2006 Scudetto cup, previously unclaimed from Serie A, has finally found its home. This trophy represents the championship title revoked from Juventus due to the Calciopoli scandal and subsequently awarded to Inter.
For years, this spot in the trophy room remained empty. The only cup produced by the league had been given to Juventus, leaving Inter without a physical representation of their victory. Until now, Inter’s triumph in that season was merely recorded in the official records.
Inter’s CEO Giuseppe Marotta personally spearheaded the initiative to obtain the trophy. The Serie A league promptly responded by producing a second cup, which was then handed over to Inter, allowing them to proudly display it.
In a touching gesture, after receiving the trophy, an Inter representative, on Marotta’s behalf, presented it to former club president Massimo Moratti. This symbolic act allowed Moratti to embrace a trophy he had always felt rightfully belonged to the club.
With this addition, Inter Milan’s trophy cabinet now boasts one more prestigious piece of silverware, tangibly representing their 2005-2006 Scudetto victory.
