Inter and Atalanta Forwards Enter European Golden Shoe Top 10
Marcus Thuram’s powerful goal against Como has propelled him into the top 10 of the European Golden Shoe standings, joining Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui. The Inter Milan striker netted his 12th league goal on Monday, securing a 2-0 victory over Como at the San Siro and tying for the Serie A top scorer position.
Thuram and Retegui are currently the only Serie A players featured in the Golden Shoe top 10. Their 12 goals have earned them 24 points each, based on a coefficient of two points per goal in the Italian league.
The French forward has been in excellent form, scoring in his last four consecutive league matches for Inter. He is now close to surpassing his personal best of 13 Serie A goals in a single season.
Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski leads the Golden Shoe race with 32 points from 16 La Liga goals. Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah follows in second place with 30 points, while Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane holds the third spot with 28 points from 14 goals.
Thuram’s recent performances have not only boosted Inter’s title campaign but have also put him in contention for individual accolades. As the Serie A season progresses, it will be interesting to see if he can maintain this goalscoring form and challenge for the Capocannoniere title as well as climb further up the European Golden Shoe rankings.
