Gravina Seeks Re-election as FIGC President, Emphasizing Progress and Values
Gabriele Gravina, the current president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), has announced his decision to run for re-election in the upcoming elections. In a recent interview, Gravina expressed his commitment to continuing the work he has started and completing ongoing projects.
“The decision to run again was made in agreement with the various components of the federation. They actually requested it, showing great confidence in me and our shared vision,” Gravina stated. He emphasized the importance of completing the initiatives focused on values and progress that have been set in motion during his tenure.
Addressing criticisms, Gravina dismissed unfounded attacks, stating that constructive criticism serves as motivation. He credited the overwhelming support from the football community for helping him overcome moments of doubt.
Gravina highlighted several achievements during his presidency, including stabilizing the system during the pandemic, initiating financial recovery plans for professional clubs, and defending the federation’s autonomy. He also pointed to sporting successes such as the European Championship victory in 2021 and unprecedented achievements in youth competitions.
Looking ahead, Gravina expressed optimism about the future of Italian football, particularly praising the work of new national team coach Luciano Spalletti. He outlined plans for youth development, stadium modernization, and legislative changes to benefit Italian soccer.
