Genoa’s Attacking Options Improve as Injured Strikers Near Return
While Genoa’s defense has been a strong point under Patrick Vieira’s management, the team’s offensive output has been lacking. In the four matches since Vieira took charge, Genoa has scored only four goals, failing to find the net in their last two outings against Torino and Milan.
However, Vieira may soon have reinforcements for his attacking line. Two players who have been sidelined with injuries are nearing their return to action. Caleb Ekuban, who has been out since September 21st due to a muscle injury, has recently resumed regular training with the squad. There’s a possibility he could be available for selection in the upcoming home match against Napoli on Saturday afternoon.
In addition to Ekuban, Genoa might soon welcome back another long-term absentee from their forward line. Jeff Ekhator, the young striker who impressed in the team’s challenging start to the season, has been out of action since November 7th following a match against Como. Ekhator suffered a muscle strain but has now almost fully recovered. While it’s unlikely he’ll be ready for the Napoli game, his return is expected in the near future.
These potential additions to Genoa’s attacking options could provide a much-needed boost to the team’s goal-scoring capabilities as they look to improve their offensive performance in upcoming fixtures.
