Galatasaray Joins Race for Marseille Striker Elye Wahi
Elye Wahi’s tenure at Olympique Marseille may be cut short, just six months after his high-profile summer transfer. The 22-year-old French striker, who arrived with great expectations as the club’s new primary forward, has failed to live up to his €30 million price tag, netting only three goals since his move from RC Lens.
Despite his underwhelming performance, Wahi continues to attract interest from other clubs. West Ham United has reportedly inquired about a loan deal with a near-mandatory purchase option of €25 million, eyeing to bring the young talent to the Premier League.
However, the Hammers now face competition from Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray. The Istanbul-based club, actively seeking to bolster their attacking options this winter, has expressed interest in negotiating a paid loan with a purchase option for Wahi.
The former Montpellier HSC and RC Lens striker is currently under contract with Marseille until 2029, leaving room for various transfer possibilities. As the winter transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen whether Wahi will remain in Ligue 1 or embark on a new adventure abroad.
