Former Spartak Moscow Striker Lucas Barrios Hangs Up His Boots

Lucas Barrios, the 40-year-old Paraguayan footballer who once played for Spartak Moscow, has officially announced his retirement from professional football.

In a heartfelt social media post, Barrios shared his future plans: “While we won’t cross paths on the football field anymore, I’ll be on the sidelines as a coach, supporting young talents and providing them with tools to grow. I’m eager to share the experience I’ve accumulated over the years.”

Throughout his illustrious career, Barrios donned the jerseys of several notable clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Gremio, Palmeiras, and Montpellier. His stint with Spartak Moscow lasted from 2013 to 2015, during which he made 20 appearances, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.

On the international stage, Barrios represented Paraguay in 36 matches, finding the back of the net 10 times. His retirement marks the end of a successful journey in professional football, but the beginning of a new chapter as he looks to nurture the next generation of players.
