Former England Star Dele Alli Set to Train with Como

Reports indicate that Dele Alli, the former England international, is scheduled to commence training with Italian Serie A club Como on December 26th. This opportunity comes as Alli looks to regain his fitness and potentially relaunch his professional football career.

Alli, who previously played for Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, and Besiktas, was present at Como’s recent 2-0 victory over Roma in Serie A. Cesc Fabregas, associated with Como, hinted at the possibility of Alli joining the club’s training sessions in the near future.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Alli’s training with Como will begin on Boxing Day. However, it’s important to note that this training opportunity does not guarantee a contract offer. Any potential deal will depend on Alli’s performance during these sessions.

Dele Alli’s Career Overview

Alli rose to prominence in the Premier League after joining Tottenham from MK Dons in 2015. His impressive debut season, scoring 10 goals, led to him being named PFA Young Player of the Year twice. Alli also made a strong start with the England national team, scoring a memorable goal in his first start against France at Wembley.

However, Alli’s form began to decline, particularly after Jose Mourinho’s appointment at Tottenham in 2019. This downturn continued under subsequent managers Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte. Eventually, Alli moved to Everton under Frank Lampard’s management, but struggled to regain his previous form.

A loan spell at Turkish club Besiktas in the 2022-23 season failed to reignite Alli’s career, and he has been without a club since the summer of 2023. This training opportunity with Como represents a chance for the 27-year-old to potentially rejuvenate his once-promising career in football.
