Former Assistant: Mancini Could Restore Team Spirit at AC Milan
Alberico Evani, who previously worked as Roberto Mancini’s assistant coach, believes the former Italy manager would be an excellent choice to take over at AC Milan if the club decides to replace current boss Paulo Fonseca. Evani feels Mancini has the experience and leadership qualities needed to reinvigorate the team.
While Fonseca’s job is not under immediate threat, Milan’s struggles this season have led to speculation about potential replacements. The team currently sits in 8th place in Serie A, 14 points off the top and 8 points away from Champions League qualification spots.
Evani, who played for Milan from 1980-1993, praised Mancini’s impressive managerial resume and ability to unite players. “Mancini’s track record speaks for itself – he’s coached many top teams successfully,” Evani said in a radio interview. “I played alongside him and even back then you could see his leadership qualities.”
The former assistant believes Mancini would excel at rebuilding team spirit and cohesion at Milan. “As a manager, he knows how to smooth things over and bring everyone together,” Evani explained. “He could restore that sense of unity that Milan seem to be lacking at the moment.”
Evani and Mancini have a long history of collaboration, working together with the Italian national team that won Euro 2020. They also coached together recently with the Saudi Arabian national team.
While Fonseca remains in charge for now, Mancini’s name continues to be linked with the Milan job alongside other experienced managers like Maurizio Sarri and Massimiliano Allegri. The club’s leadership will have to weigh their options carefully if they do decide to make a managerial change in the near future.
