Fiorentina Targets Empoli’s Fazzini: Potential Midfield Addition
Fiorentina is actively seeking to strengthen their midfield in the upcoming January transfer window. While rumors about Serbian veteran Nemanja Matic from Lyon remain unconfirmed, attention has shifted to Jacopo Fazzini, a promising talent from Empoli.
Born in 2003, Fazzini is a product of Empoli’s successful youth academy and is currently under contract until June 2027. This season, he has made a notable impact in the Coppa Italia, scoring twice against Catanzaro. However, his Serie A appearances have been limited to 7 games, totaling 553 minutes, partly due to injuries including hip and muscle problems.
Fiorentina isn’t alone in their pursuit of Fazzini, as Lazio has also expressed interest. The Rome-based club is simultaneously considering Michael Folorunsho from Napoli, another player on Fiorentina’s radar. Meanwhile, Fiorentina is in talks with Napoli regarding a potential swap deal involving left-backs Cristiano Biraghi and Leonardo Spinazzola.
In related news, Lazio midfielder Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro, a 32-year-old Franco-Ivorian, is expected to return to Monza in January.
