Fabregas Frustrated with Como’s Performance Against Inter
Cesc Fabregas expressed disappointment following Como’s 2-0 loss to Inter Milan, stating he now knows which players truly embody his football philosophy. The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder, now managing Como, felt his team missed opportunities to challenge the Serie A giants.
Fabregas opted for a three-man defense to mirror Inter’s formation, which proved effective in neutralizing their attack for extended periods. However, Como ultimately conceded goals to Carlos Augusto and Marcus Thuram.
The Spanish coach lamented his team’s lack of aggression in key moments, saying, “I’m frustrated because we sensed we could have hurt them more, but we didn’t capitalize.” He praised some players, like Da Cunha, for showing the fearless attitude he desires, while criticizing others for not seizing opportunities.
Fabregas emphasized the need for more character and effectiveness in possession, stating, “Today I clearly saw who has my style of football in their blood and who doesn’t.” Despite the loss, he remains optimistic about Como’s progress, citing their recent performances against top teams as positive signs to build upon.
When questioned about potential January transfers, Fabregas expressed faith in his current squad, preferring to focus on continued improvement through training rather than discussing replacements. He acknowledged that while Como deserves more points based on their performances, results are what ultimately matter in football.
