Everton vs Nottingham Forest: Dyche Should Consider Lineup Changes

Everton are set to host Nottingham Forest in a key Premier League fixture as they look to build on their recent unbeaten run. While Sean Dyche’s side has shown improved defensive solidity in recent weeks, the manager may need to make some bold lineup changes to overcome a tough Forest team.

Dyche faces some selection dilemmas, with Dwight McNeil potentially returning from injury. The manager should strongly consider dropping Jack Harrison, who has struggled for form lately, failing to register a goal or assist in 16 league appearances this season. Harrison’s lack of end product and his poor showing against Manchester City, where he lost 10 duels, suggest he may benefit from time on the bench.

If McNeil is fit, he could slot into an attacking midfield role, allowing Abdoulaye Doucoure to push forward and creating space for Idrissa Gueye and new signing Orel Mangala to partner in central midfield. This adjustment could give Everton more creativity while maintaining defensive stability against Forest’s physical approach.

Up front, Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goal drought is becoming a concern. The striker has now gone 13 league games without scoring. Dyche may want to consider giving Armando Broja a start to freshen up the attack.

While Everton have found a successful formula in recent weeks, tweaking the lineup could be necessary against a Forest side that has impressed this season. By potentially resting Harrison and Calvert-Lewin while introducing fresh legs, Dyche can maintain the team’s momentum while addressing some underperforming areas.

As Everton look to climb further away from relegation danger, making these tactical adjustments could be key to securing a positive result against Forest and ending 2023 on a high note at Goodison Park.
