Everton Target German Forward Tim Kleindienst to Address Scoring Woes
Everton are reportedly pursuing Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Tim Kleindienst as they aim to bolster their attacking options in January. The Toffees have struggled for goals this season, scoring just 15 times in 17 Premier League matches.
According to German outlet Bild, Everton have made an approach for the 29-year-old Kleindienst, who has been in impressive form since joining Gladbach last summer. The 6’2″ forward has netted 9 goals and provided 6 assists in 17 appearances this term.
Kleindienst’s prolific scoring record has caught the eye of several clubs, with Wolverhampton Wanderers also said to be interested. The German international is known for being equally adept with both feet.
Everton manager Sean Dyche recently highlighted his team’s ongoing goalscoring issues, which have plagued the club for several seasons. Bringing in a proven striker like Kleindienst could help address this problem.
However, Gladbach are reluctant to part with their in-form forward. Sporting director Roland Virkus confirmed there has been interest in Kleindienst but stated the club does not want to sell any key players. The striker himself has also expressed contentment at Gladbach.
If a move for Kleindienst fails to materialize, Everton are also reportedly considering Botafogo striker Igor Jesus as an alternative target to strengthen their attack in the January window.
