Everton Frustrate Chelsea, but Calvert-Lewin’s Struggles Continue

Everton once again proved difficult to break down as they held Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park. This follows a similar defensive performance against Arsenal, as Sean Dyche’s men continue to frustrate top teams.

While Everton’s defensive solidity is impressive, having conceded just 21 goals this season, their attack remains a concern. Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s poor form continued against Chelsea, failing to register a single shot before being substituted in the 73rd minute.

Calvert-Lewin’s struggles are not new, with his goal tally declining steadily over the past few seasons. This campaign, he has managed just 2 goals in 16 Premier League appearances.

Against Chelsea, the striker’s stats were particularly disappointing:
– Only 7 completed passes
– Just 24 touches (fewer than goalkeeper Jordan Pickford)
– Won only 2 out of 11 duels (19% success rate)

Given these struggles, Dyche may need to consider other options for Everton’s upcoming match against Manchester City. Brazilian striker Beto could be given a chance to lead the line, potentially offering a different threat to the champions’ defense.

While Calvert-Lewin has been a key player for Everton in recent years, his current form suggests it might be time for a change. The team needs more of an attacking threat to complement their solid defensive performances if they hope to climb the table.
