Cristiano Ronaldo Believes Vinicius Junior Deserved the Ballon d’Or

Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his belief that Real Madrid’s winger Vinicius Junior should have been awarded the 2024 Ballon d’Or. The Al-Nassr forward stated that the 24-year-old Brazilian player was more deserving of the prestigious award than any other candidate.

In the 2024 Ballon d’Or voting, Vinicius Junior secured the second position, narrowly losing to Manchester City midfielder Rodri. Ronaldo, speaking at the Globe Soccer Awards ceremony, voiced his opinion on the matter.

“Vinicius has been doing a fantastic job. In my view, he deserved to win the Ballon d’Or. I think it was unfair. While Rodri, who received the award, also deserved it, I believe Vinicius should have won because he clinched the Champions League and scored in the final. This is why I appreciate the Globe Soccer Awards – they’re fair,” Ronaldo stated.

At the Globe Soccer Awards, Vinicius Junior emerged victorious in two categories. The Real Madrid player was recognized as both the best footballer and the best forward of 2024. The award ceremony took place on December 27 in Dubai.

In the previous season, the Brazilian player contributed significantly to Real Madrid’s success, helping the team secure both the Spanish La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League trophy.
