Chicago Fire Initiate Discussions to Acquire Neymar from Al Hilal
Reports suggest that Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire has initiated conversations with Brazilian football sensation Neymar Jr., who currently plays for Saudi Arabian team Al Hilal. The American club is said to be considering offering the 32-year-old striker a two-year contract, though negotiations are still in their early stages.
Since his high-profile move from Paris Saint-Germain to Al Hilal before the 2023/24 season, Neymar has faced significant fitness challenges. The Brazilian international has only managed to participate in seven matches for his new club, with his playing time severely limited due to injuries.
Neymar’s minimal involvement – just five appearances last season and two this term before succumbing to another injury – has become a considerable concern for Al Hilal, especially given the substantial financial investment they’ve made in the player. The club reportedly spent 101 million euros on Neymar’s salary for 2024 alone.
Despite these setbacks, Neymar remains focused on participating in the upcoming World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. A potential move to Chicago Fire could align with this goal, allowing him to acclimate to American football and potentially regain his form ahead of the tournament.
