Chelsea Should Consider Selling High-Earning Midfielder Dewsbury-Hall
Chelsea’s midfield has been performing well this season, with players like Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia impressing. However, one expensive signing has struggled to make an impact – Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Dewsbury-Hall joined Chelsea from Leicester City for £30 million but has barely featured in the Premier League, playing just 55 minutes so far. This is surprising given his strong form for Leicester last season, where he scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in the Championship.
Despite his lack of playing time, Dewsbury-Hall is on high wages of £80,000 per week – more than regular starters like Noni Madueke. This does not represent good value for Chelsea.
With the January transfer window approaching, manager Enzo Maresca has hinted Dewsbury-Hall could leave. Given his high wages and lack of impact, Chelsea should look to sell the midfielder to free up resources for other areas of the squad.
While Dewsbury-Hall showed promise at Leicester, he has failed to replicate that form at Chelsea. The club would be wise to cut their losses and move on from this expensive transfer mistake in January.
